Can You Take It?

Listen to "Can You Take It" and the first thing you'll hear me say is "Dance with me." Those three words sum up the theme of the song, but not the entire message.

Have you ever been at a party and someone caught your eye? Better yet, you noticed that you caught their eye as well? What did you do? What did you want to do? Did you feel like their eyes were calling you? Did you answer? You know that dancing is a form of foreplay right? Well me, I love foreplay.

Can You Take It (Kapo Remix)

This is why I wrote "Can You Take It." I didn't want to create just another dance track. And being that it was a House single, I thought back to my battle days; you know, when that circle would form on the dance floor and you were either in it or watching those in it. I loved being in it!

Clubbing in the 90s

While reminiscing about dancing, I remembered those magical moments: Friday nights at the Vinyl, the Copa Cabana, oh yea and Carbon — my favorite! Anyone at those events in the 90s will tell you these were their favorite nights of "clubbing" till this day. Why? Well, for one thing, it wasn't all about status. People actually went to the club to have a good time and DANCE. It wasn't about how many sparkly lights you had brought to your little cramped table, and being real hot didn’t require fake parts. The bottom line, you were you and you went to the club, primarily, to dance!

If you saw someone you liked on the dance floor you two stepped your way towards her/him and attempted to lure her/him in. You didn’t worry about messing up your outfit. If you walked away from the dance floor wrinkled and sweaty after a few songs of close, heavy breathing, it was all worth it. If you walked away wrinkled, sweaty and with a phone number, well, it was the equivalent to waking up tomorrow and having 1,000,000 new Instagram followers, but better — it was REAL!

Why release the remix now?

So back to "CanYou Take It." I released the original version, which was produced by EddieCuesta, in 2013. Though the record was well received by the after hours House circuit, it failed to connect with my core mainstream fan base. Still, there was something about the record. Especially whenever I performed it. Maybe it’s the energy I bring to the stage, but, while singing it live I could see the spark in the eyes of the crowd and it was like looking into the eyes of the lady in red at the Carbon — we connected. Therefore, I decided to re-release the song. This time with a beat that embodied the energy I bring to the stage. Kapo and I sat together and it was magic, “’Can You Take’ (Kapo Remix)” was born.

If you prefer the Pasha vibe, then the Original version is for you. But, if you’re a festivalgoer, then this remix is for you. Either way, the message is the same, and I hope that you dance with me — #CYTI
